The Jackson/Goode/Johnson Family
The Jackson Family roots are in the Methodist Church. Many sons served in the Delaware Methodist Conference. Two churches in Philadelphia stand today as monuments to their dedication and faith. Namely Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at the corner of 11th and Oxford sts. founded by Rev. Alexander R. Jackson and Tindley Temple United Methodist Church on Broad street. .founded by his cousin Dr. Charles Albert Tindley. Another cousin Cassie Still served at the United Methodist Church in Lawnside , NJ.. (more)The Goode Family origins begin in Greenwood , South Carolina. It is a place where, for generations, Goode families like those of Henry Goode, Emma Goode Hence and James L. Goode lived quite close to one another. So strong were their bonds that our people in Greenwood were able to bring up their children and build institutes to educate them and move ahead, despite the violent obstacles and economic oppression the had to endure.
